Shreyas Shipping inaugurates maiden call of its vessels at Kolkata & Chittagong

M.V. SSL Chennai, the newly-acquired 700-TEU capacity container vessel of Shreyas Shipping and Logistics Ltd (part of the Transworld Group of Companies), berthed at Kolkata on her maiden call on August 6, 2015 with 260 TEUs of laden units from Singapore and Port Klang. TLPL Shipping and Logistics Pvt. Ltd handled the vessel call at Kolkata.

During the inaugural function held on board M.V. SSL Chennai, a plaque exchange was carried out between the Port Chairman, Mr R. P. S. Kahlon, IAS, and the Master of the vessel. Dignitaries from the Port, immigration and Port Health Department graced the occasion.

On the same day, another vessel of Shreyas Shipping, M.V. SSL Sagarmala, called at Chittagong Port on her maiden call, inaugurating the direct trade between India and Bangladesh.

Shreyas plans to operate M.V. SSL Sagarmala on the Vizag - Kolkata - Chittagong - Vizag service, to establish direct trade between the two countries as well as tranship Middle East cargo originating from Bangladesh over Vizag into their PIX II service.

With additional tonnage and extension of services, Shreyas Shipping has become a regional coastal operator connecting all main container ports between Chittagong on the East and Jebel Ali on the West along with Indian ports, highlighted a release.
