Indian Forklift Operator of the Year to compete for international award

Srinivasa N. D., winner of the Praguna ThinkLink Learning ‘India Forklift Operator of the Year 2015’, is travelling to the UK to compete in the finals of the RTITB International Forklift Operator of the Year 2016 award

Mr Srinivasa N. D., who works at Toyota Kirloskar Motor, beat hundreds of other drivers from across India to be crowned ‘Indian Forklift Operator of the Year 2015’ in a competition hosted by Praguna ThinkLink Learning which offers skilling and human capability development programmes in logistics and is RTITB’s exclusive, accredited partner delivering forklift training in India.

As part of his prize, Mr Srinivasa qualified for a place in the live finals of the International Forklift Operator of the Year 2016 competition at IMHX (International Materials Handling Exhibition) at the NEC, Birmingham, UK from September 13-16, 2016 where up to 20,000 people are expected.

One of just 40 contestants in the running to be crowned International Forklift Operator of the Year 2016, Mr Srinivasa has received an all-expenses paid trip to the UK in order to demonstrate his knowledge, skill and understanding of efficient and safe lift truck operation in the next round of the competition.

The award is hosted by UK-based RTITB, the preferred regulatory body for workplace transport training, and aims to find, recognise and reward the very best forklift operator in the world. RTITB works closely with Praguna ThinkLink Learning, which is the first vocational business in India to be RTITB accredited, to help encourage Indian forklift operators to excel and to improve operator efficiency, safety, morale and confidence.

"Forklift trucks play an important role in so many companies around the world, regardless of size or industry," says Ms Laura Nelson, Managing Director of RTITB, the preferred global standards setting body for workplace transport training. "Both the Indian Forklift Operator of the Year competition with Praguna, and this international award celebrate the skills and knowledge of forklift drivers while promoting safety and encouraging all operators to achieve accuracy, control and efficiency."

Ms Laura continues: "This is a very prestigious award, so to take part in the finals and to compete on this international level you have to be among ‘the best of the best’."
