Bahri successfully concludes its participation in Saudi Maritime Congress 2022
Bahri, a global leader in logistics and transportation, concluded its participation in the third edition of the Saudi Maritime Congress which was held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Ahmad bin Fahd bin Salman Al-Saud, Deputy Governor of the Eastern Region. Held in Dhahran on the 28th and 29th of September, Bahri took part in the Congress as its founding strategic partner. Organised in collaboration with Seatrade Maritime and the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani), the event was attended by some of the industry’s leading maritime and logistical services executives, decision-makers, and local and regional experts.
Bahri executives spoke on a number of high-profile discussion panels throughout the event. In a keynote session titled Vision 2030: an update on progress and opportunity for growth, Eng. Soror Basalom, President of Bahri Logistics, stated that the current challenges being faced globally require further collaboration and integration to better the shipping industry and maintain secure access to supply chains, citing Bahri’s experience in this regard as an example.
In another panel titled, Outlook for Oil and Gas Transportation, Hisham Alnughaimish, Senior Vice President, Commercial and Operations, Bahri Oil, shed light on Bahri’s role in assisting its clients and partners to maintain their production cycles.
For his part, Khalid Alhammad, Vice President, Bahri Ship Management, highlighted Bahri’s commitment to the shift toward renewable energy sources during a session titled Decarbonization and the fuel revolution to 2050.
On the sidelines of the congress, Bahri Logistics, one of Bahri’s business units, signed a long-term agreement with International Maritime Industries (IMI), the owner of the largest shipyard in the MENA region. Under the terms of the agreement, IMI will leverage Bahri Logistics’ expertise to operate and manage three warehouses and a total of 33 stores across its yard in Ras Al Khair, Saudi Arabia. Bahri Logistics will handle the transportation of materials required for new build and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) operations from local and international suppliers to IMI’s premises, including inland transportation and Customs clearance.
The Saudi Maritime Congress is a pro-environment platform that fosters key discussions on renewable energy adoption and the integration of cutting-edge technology into every facet of the maritime industry. Experts at the Congress universally agreed that best practices are a must to cut carbon emissions for the benefit of global supply chains and a safe, sustainable environment. Implementing these practices is essential to the realisation of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 objectives for a clean, resilient world capable of tackling the maritime industry’s impact on global warming, said a release.
