Defence exports soar 34-fold in FY25

India’s defence exports have witnessed a remarkable surge, growing from Rs 686 crore in 2013-14 to Rs 23,622 crore in 2024-25, marking a 34-fold increase. India is exporting to around 80 countries and has set an ambitious target of achieving Rs 50,000 crore in defence exports by 2029. This growth highlights India’s growing prowess in the global defence manufacturing sector.

In the fiscal year 2024-25, private sector defence exports contributed a substantial Rs 15,233 crore, while the Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) recorded exports worth Rs 8,389 crore. The DPSU sector alone saw a growth of 42.85% in exports, reflecting the increasing global demand for Indian defence products. Alongside the export growth, export authorisations rose by 16.92%, and the number of exporters grew by 17.4%, underlining the expanding reach of India’s defence manufacturing capabilities, as per a report.
